Overall objective of the position:

The Farm Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the farm including personnel, production and technical management.

The Farm manager is to manage all the relevant functions of the company in a way that optimizes operations efficiency and productivity, customer service and satisfaction and meets compliance .

The Farm Manager will effectively manage all aspects of Human Resources “HR” in operations and production through staff training and development, with safety non-negotiable.

This is a full time post and Candidate will work 5 days a week Monday to Friday under normal circumstances but may be required from time to time to assist due to operational problems.

December is our busy Litchi season and must be required to work overtime over this period.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To be accountable to the shareholders for the Directorship general management of the company.

Ensure efficient use of company financial , human and mechanical and
biological resourcesEnsure compliance to Global Gap and SIZA and any
other legislation relating to production activities and marketing of fruit,

Ensure that all farm equipment and machinery is used in a responsible manner and kept in good working condition.

Ensure that all farm inputs are applied correctly and a timely manner to maintain good tree care, and irrigation activities.

Effective irrigation, insect and pathogen monitoringEnsure that the company complies with all Workplace Occupational Health and Safety legislative requirements and best practice quality control methods.

To be responsible for costs and expenses in all operations, procedures and processes.

To assist shareholders in the preparation, maintenance and monitoring of budgets and cost controls in line with the current farm business plan.

Continually assess the production capability and make decisions based
on up to date information on fruit production and sales.

To ensure sufficient staff and resources are in place for efficient, productive effective farm operations.

Establish and maintain relationships with key sub-contractors, suppliers and service providers.

To effectively manage relevant resources and capital of the company for optimum performance.

Must Have

Proven high levels of experience in a technical farm and/or horticultural environment.
Ability to develop and manage production, process and procedures of
farm inputs, forecasts and logistics. Ability to achieve efficient production with minimal loss, technical or quality rejection. Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop rapport with customers, suppliers and service providers, whilst relating to staff and issues in the field.

Should Have

Technical and industry experience, drawn from a background in relevant horticultural, allied science or associated environment.
Ability to liaise with the relevant industry bodies and associated regulatory or government departments

Minimum Requirements:

Relevant Horticultural and/or science degree & extensive background experience.

Basic to Intermediate computer skills such as Microsoft Office – MS Word, MS Excel, and relevant systems software.

Motor Vehicle LicenseForklift License

Safe handling and storage of farm chemicals experience and training
